Chapter 7: The Notes of a Life Traveler

WARNING: I'm not really good in composing a story flow. So just be prepared to get confused but happy.. *grins* B eing outside of the country, far away from the comfortable bed and neighborhood at home, studying abroad is just a big challenge for people, especially for young students. I went to Mission College (now, known as Asia-Pacific International University ) in 2003; at that time, I was just finished my high school in a boarding school in East Java Academy (known as Sekolah Lanjutan Advent Purwodadi a.k.a. SLAPUR). Well, basically I'm okay to live away from home because I'd had used to it ever since I was a little younger, but living abroad would be my first experience.

This is my rough translation of my blog post, " Yang Tidak Bisa Diucapkan Papa " which was actually pasted from somewhere over the internet. So, here it is. I hope you would enjoy the reading and start to appreciate our Dads. Dad's Unspoken Words Usually, for grown up ladies who work or being with their husbands, or study outside of the country, who live far from their parents, will miss their mothers. What about their fathers?

Setelah gua lulus dari kampus gua yang ada di Airmadidi sana, gua putuskan untuk nggak cari kerja dulu, karena beberapa alasan seperti belum ada ijasah (ngantri) dan karena gua harus break sejenak setelah rentetan shock therapy di bulan Mei sebelumnya (ntar gua cerita deh). Banyak orang-orang di sekitar gua yang anggap gua ini pintar dan pasti bisa dapat kerjaan dan akan kerja di sebuah tempat yang bonafit; bahkan ada yang pikir gua akan direkrut kampus gua untuk ngajar. Well, mereka itu salah besar. Buktinya, gua nggak dapat-dapat kerjaan juga, ataupun ditarik masuk untuk ngajar di kampus. Gua aja heran kenapa teman-teman bisa anggap gua ini pintar... Padahal gua ini standar aja (biasanya kalo udah merendahkan diri gini, sebenarnya minta dipuji lagi... hahahhahahahahha). Anyway, setelah beberapa lama, mulai ada teman-teman tanya, "udah kerja di mana, Glenn?" dan bahkan menanyakan pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang paling gua nggak suka; pertanyaan itu adalah pertanyaan dalam ben...

Beberapa hari ini kita membaca berita betapa sulitnya anak-anak mencari sekolah.Masuk universitas pilihan susahnya setengah mati. Kalaupun diterima, bak lolos dari lubang jarum. Sudah masuk ternyata banyak yang ”salah kamar”. Sudah sering saya mengajak dialog mahasiswa yang bermasalah dalam perkuliahan,

05.55 a.m. I woke up in a sudden and in a blitz jumped off my bed and rushed to the evangelistic meeting's main tent; this morning's activity was to reposition everything back to their places: chairs, boards, covers, screens, return the sound system and the power supply set. 11.55 we (i, agus, and jones) finished our duties that morning by washing our sponsor's car which he lend it to us. i and agus was supposed to be a the parking lot as soon as possible because we need to go to Manado International School for the seniors' video and photo taking sessions for our DVD and Seniors Book. Darn! it was tiring. I hadn't had rest and enough meal to do such activities!! but our dudes from Siluet Production were so enthusiastic and patient to us, the exceptional children (ROFL) 15.30 we finished everything, the photo and video taking. i, then, rushed back to my room, took a quick bath and go back to manado, meeting TOpan, my friend... i waited from 5 to 7 and no answered f...
