Dad's Unspoken Words

This is my rough translation of my blog post, "Yang Tidak Bisa Diucapkan Papa" which was actually pasted from somewhere over the internet. So, here it is. I hope you would enjoy the reading and start to appreciate our Dads.

Dad's Unspoken Words

Usually, for grown up ladies who work or being with their husbands, or study outside of the country, who live far from their parents, will miss their mothers.

What about their fathers?

Maybe because mother is the one who always call to check whether you are doing just alright; but do you know that it is actually father who remind mother to call you?

Maybe mom was the one who talked to you or read you a bedtime story;

But do you know that after a hectic work day, with a tired face, dad would always ask mom about you and what you did the whole day?

When you were a little girl, dad would teach his little girl to ride a bike; and after he thought you can make it, he would let you go to bike alone. Then, mom would say, "no, don't let her go alone yet, honey." because mom was afraid her little princess would fall and hurt; but did you realize that dad would let you go with a trust. He would see you, and kept an eye on you paddling the bike because he knew his little daughter can do it.

By the time you cry whine request a new doll or toy, Mom looked at you pity. But Dad would say firmly: "Sure, we'll buy it later, but not now."

You know, Dad did it because he does not want you to be a spoiled child with all the demands that can always be met?

When you're cold sore, Dad too worried until sometimes a little shout to say:

"I already told you! You do not drink cold water!" In contrast with the notice and advice Mama did to you gently, dad really worried about what you are doing. 

When you are growing up.... You start demanding on Dad to be able to get license to go out the evening, and Dad firmly and say: "No".

Did you know that Daddy did it to take care of you? As for Dad, you are something very - very extraordinary valuable...

After that you're angry at Dad, and entered the room, slamming the door ... And who comes knocking doors and persuade you not to upset was Mom....

But at the time Dad closed his eyes and holding within his inner turmoil, that Dad was eager to follow your wishes, but again he MUST take care of you?

When a guy started to call you, or even come home to see you, Dad would put on the coolest face in the world.... (-_-)

Dad occasionally eavesdropping or peeping when you are chatting together in the living room...

Did you realize that Dad felt jealous?

When you begin to become more trusted, and Dad slightly loosens the rules to leave the house for you, you will force to violate the curfew.

So what Dad did is sitting in the living room, and waiting to go home with a worry heart ... and after feeling worried... when he saw his little daughter came home late at night, dad will harden the hearts and scold you.

Did you realize that this is because dad feels that the time will come soon… "That little girl will soon be leaving dad"

After graduating from high school, Dad will be a little forceful you to become a doctor or engineer.

You should know that all coercion is done Daddy was just thinking about your future.

And yet Dad kept smiling and supporting you when your choice is not in accordance with his wish.

When you become an adult .... and you have to go to college in another town ... father should let you go at the airport. Did you know that he feels stiff to hug you?

Dad just smiled and gave this advice - to do this and that, and ask you to be careful. .

Though he'd like to cry like Mama and hug you tight.

What Dad did was remove a little tear in the corner of his eyes, and patted your shoulder saying "Take care of yourself well, dear".

Dad do it all to make you STRONGER ... to go and become strong grownup.

When you need money to pay for half the money and life, the first person to frown is Dad.

Dad must have tried hard to find a way so that their children can feel equal with other friends.

When your request is no longer just asked for a new doll, and Dad knew he could not give what you want ... The words that came out of Dad's mouth was: "No. .... No way!" though deep inside him, dad was eager to say "Yes dear, daddy would like to buy it for you." Did you know that at the time Dad felt failed to make his child happy?

It's time you graduated as a scholar .. Dad was the first to stand up and applaud you. Dad will smile with pride and satisfaction to see "the little girl who is not spoiled has actually grown up, and has become somebody."

Until one day your boyfriend came over and asked for permission to Dad to take you away. Dad would be very careful in giving permission because he knew that That guy that's going to replace him someday.

And finally .... When Dad saw you sit on the Aisle with the man who deserves to replace him, Dad was smiling happy .... Do you know, that on that happy day that Dad would go to the backstage and weep? Dad was crying because he is very happy

And then he prays In a quiet prayer to God,  "O Lord my job was well done .... My little beautiful girl has become a beautiful woman .... make her happy with her husband ..."

After that Dad can only await with his grandchildren who occasionally come to visit ... With hair has turned white and arms are no longer strong enough to keep you from harm .... Dad has completed his job ....

Our father is a figure that should always look strong ... Even when he is not strong enough to cry ... He should look firmly even when he wants to pamper you. . And he was the first person who always believes that "YOU CAN" in all things ..

I get this note from a friend, and maybe it is better if I re-distribute them to other friends. I dedicate this article to friends my beautiful female friends, who has now turned into a grown woman, and also for my male friends that have been or will be a GREAT dad!

There might be so much that cannot be expressed verbally by our fathers, but at least now we understand what is inside his heart.
